This is a simple sharing about what I experience while climbing one of the toughest hills in my hiking history.
As far as I hiked, no one mountain that is more beautiful than Mount Tabur. Situated at the Titiwangsa ranch, this hill is composed of primarily granite stones and quartz crystals. I mean it, crystals. (because literally you can see crystals on the floor and on rocks)
And the track was really tough. I recall I almost lost my life hanging in the middle of a boulder where both sides of me are cliffs. One mistake is enough to cost my life. I had a friend, who extends his arm to help me. So, I realized teamwork is crucial. Not only for hiking, but for all group activities.
But when you finally can see the horizon, all the toil and hard work is ALL worth it. Because when you look to your left. It's one image I will never forget. It's this. (picture above) The sky was dark as I felt the damp air brushing on my face, yet there is no rain. All I saw was the sun beam penetrated through the clouds, lighting up a reflection on the crystal clear lake below the stratosphere. Surrounded by a dense natural forest, it reminded me how precious these treasure trove are because of the majestic biodiversity and remedies it offer us.
On the other side of the mountain, facing the backdrop of concrete jungle, it's the capital of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur. Where I saw buildings, cars and trucks. Closer to the mountain, I saw deforestation. Layers of topical forest striped bare to make way for our development.
To me, this image is a reminder of our growth and our need to exploit nature to fulfill our insatiable desires.
