Economy or Earth?

When it comes to environmental issues, we tend to think about global warming caused by the escalating emission of greenhouse gases like Carbon Dioxide or Methane due to our economy.

Thinking back, most of our energy is generated by oil or coal fired power plant hence we are now very much dependent on burning materials to power our daily life.

Here’s something interesting: Can we discard the idea of burning materials to power our economy without ruining it?

Can we live without oil?

Is our economy affected if we decided to move away from oil?

Can we still have our jobs?

Try looking at the picture; it pretty much sums up what I am going to say. The earth hangs in a balance with our economy. Do we have to choose one of them?

Look at one side. It’s cash! Mmmmm... cold hard cash. I would love to have some of those. And on the other side, we have an ENTIRE PLANET! Hmm....

Normally, for the short sighted people, we choose money - our current economy.

But think again, is it worth the damage?

If we choose earth, then I believe we are making the right choice because doing the right thing moves us forward. By taking care of earth, we are moving into a new era. A second industrial revolution is needed hence opening new job opportunities.

So, we don’t have to throw our economy away for our earth after all.
